On graduation, eligible candidates may have the opportunity to gain valuable Australian work experience before returning to Kenya as a qualified agribusiness leader.
Eligibility Requirements
This scholarship is available to Elgeyo Marakwet County residents only, through the PEPEA programme. Check every requirement before applying.
County Residency
You must be a resident of, or professionally employed within, Elgeyo Marakwet County. This scholarship is exclusively available through the PEPEA programme.
Hard RequirementAge: 25 to 32
This scholarship pathway is designed for candidates aged 25 to 32 at time of application, to align with post-study work visa age requirements and allow time for processing.
Hard RequirementBachelor's Degree
A completed bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Food Science, Environmental Science, or a closely related field from a recognised university.
Hard RequirementWork Experience
Minimum 2 years of professional experience after your degree in agriculture, agribusiness, county government agricultural services, an agricultural NGO, or the Ministry of Agriculture.
Hard RequirementEnglish: IELTS 6.0
IELTS 6.0 overall with no individual band below 5.5, or an equivalent PTE or TOEFL score. If you do not yet meet this, ask about the English language pathway programme at Ironwood.
Financial Capacity
You must demonstrate access to funds covering your remaining tuition balance plus full living costs (the current Department of Home Affairs living cost requirement is AUD $29,710).
Home Country Ties
You must have strong ties to Kenya — permanent employment, property, family dependants, or business interests. A leave of absence letter from your employer significantly strengthens your visa application.
This pathway is best suited to candidates who: Are aged 25 to 32 are a resident or employee within Elgeyo Marakwet County hold a completed bachelor's degree have 2 or more years of post-graduation work experience in a relevant field.
